It is very important that our Nursery School works in positive partnership with parents and carers, as the most significant people in their child’s life. You are your child’s first and most enduring educators. We therefore need your help to build on the foundations you have laid at home in order to help your child to achieve success in their education and reach their full potential as well-rounded, productive and caring citizens in our local and wider community.
We operate an open door policy, which means that parents are welcome at any time to discuss concerns about any aspect of their child’s time with us. We have a key person system which means that each family is allocated a named member of staff who will get to know them well and build a strong relationship with them and their child. We welcome parents into the classroom at the beginning and end of sessions and encourage them to meet regularly with us, share their child’s progress. In this way we work together to give each child the best possible start to their education.
Some children may need a little extra help at some point in their education and so it may be that Nursery school/2-3 Year Provision needs to seek professional advice from other experts in order for us to fully support children’s learning or development.
Such experts may include:
We will always talk to you about any concerns we may have about your child and also encourage you to share your concerns. No matter how minor or major they may seem, you will always be listened to carefully and our SENCO can refer you to appropriate specialists if necessary. They will explain all the procedures carefully so that you are always fully aware of the processes in relation to your child.
Keeping in Touch
There is a texting service which helps us to remind you of any important dates and events such as parent meetings, closure days etc.
Parents and Carers are also invited to regular informal gatherings and we hold two way meetings with parents each term to talks about progress or concerns and the next steps for each child’s learning.
Curriculum Stay & Play Days are held each term and these offer parents and carers the opportunity to spend quality time engaging in their child’s learning through well-planned, fun activities. They will be able to share learning experiences with their child and take away some ideas on how to develop learning at home.
A newsletter is published termly that will give you dates and times of up and coming events as well as sharing general news about the centre as a whole. The parent and carer’s notice boards are just inside the nursery cloakrooms
